The fourth of five daughters, Jasmine attended Gainesville public schools and learned the importance of education from her mother, a school teacher. She reflects on the many trips she took to the Cooke County Library with her mother and sisters, learning that knowledge could take her anywhere. Her father, a wholesale parts manager, taught her that working hard is necessary to achieve any dream. Jasmine went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University on academic scholarship, earning her B.S. in Rehabilitation Services. An eager graduate, Jasmine returned to her hometown with her newly aquired skills, and was met by a crumbling job market. Unable to find work in the place she called home, she turned to the metroplex and began a career in healthcare. Working in North Texas healthcare, Jasmine quickly became aware of the problems facing this district. Rural health sytems are fragile, some even collapsing. These realizations led Jasmine to becoming a candidate for Texas House District 68 Representative in hopes of inspiring a brighter future for all Texans.
"This campaign is about putting rural Texas back in the center of its own future." - Jasmine Henderson
